Biohazard Cleanup

Exposure to biological and chemical contaminants can pose serious health consequences. A failure to properly remove such substances can contribute to unhealthy and dangerous environments. SERVPRO Professionals are trained to safely clean and remove biohazardous substances and dispose of them properly in accordance with OSHA and health regulations.

Clutter vs. Hoarding: What's the Difference?

When is a mess more than just a mess? You may worry that your paper-piled desk or clothes-strewn rooms mean you're a hoarder bound for a TV reality show. But most people, even sloppy ones, fall somewhere closer to normal on the clutter scale.

What's Hoarding?

Someone who hoards collects huge amounts of things, often items of little value like ketchup packets or papers. "They don't have one can opener, they have 40," says Regina Lark, PhD, of the National Association of Professional Organizers. She specializes in helping hoarders.

Nicotine

The nicotine in tobacco that stains skin and teeth also leaves the same stains on walls. Houses inhabited by smokers may have brown or yellow stains or streaks on the walls from years of cigarette smoke. While heavy nicotine staining may require priming and repainting the walls or applying new wallpaper, less-porous materials such as wood paneling often come clean with a good scrub. SERVPRO cleansers that cut grease help cut through nicotine stains as well.

Install Water Detection Devices

A water detector is a small electronic device that sounds an alarm when its sensor is in contact with moisture.  Its main benefit is that it detects low moisture levels or slow leaks that often go unnoticed.  Install it near water heaters, sump pumps, washing machines, dishwashers and toilets to prevent extensive damage and mold growth.
